For Japan, therefore,of course relations with the United States, it is an urgent subject to hold closerrelationshipbetween the coastal states. No bilateral dialogue on the oceansecurity hasso far been grappled with in such a point of view as above.It must be important to promote the dialogue flexibly at private level.Considering the transport of crude oil from the Middle - Near East as amain issue, for instance, anessential subject is the security of SLOC in the Indian Ocean together with Malacca Strait. In addition, there exists a problemof ocean security of some anti-measures to have to be taken for pirating.Even inthat regard, the roleof India for the securityof SLOC in the Indian Ocean is tremendous.
