Tea, Traffic, and Turkish Delight: A Cross-Cultural Business Trip to Türkiye
Between May 19-26, we were assigned to travel to Türkiye on an official business trip. Our mission was twofold: to facilitate a Japanese Taiko performance at the 8th Ethnosport Cultural Festival, and to explore how the new West Asia and Islam Unit can initiate future collaborations within Türkiye and other West Asian countries. By meeting stakeholders and learning about local social challenges firsthand, we aimed to help lay the groundwork for these potential partnerships.

To foster international partnerships aimed at achieving sustainable development in Africa, advancing a sustainable blue economy, and strengthening food security, The Nippon Foundation, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) convened the above-mentioned Eminent Persons Meeting and a Special International Symposium in June 2026, bringing together former Heads of Government and leaders of African regional organizations.
