On July 30, 2026, the Center for Mediation Support of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation held its third regular study meeting, bringing together fellows with expertise in different regions and fields.

In this study session, Professor Hiroshi Yamada of the Faculty of International Studies, Niigata University of International and Information Studies (NUIS), gave a presentation on the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute from the perspective of the Cambodian People’s Party government. He explained the domestic situation, Cambodia’s relations with neighboring countries, as well as future challenges and prospects, after which participants engaged in an active exchange of views.

The Center for Mediation Support of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will continue to build a network of experts studying conflict-affected regions and their surrounding areas, deepen understanding of the structure and background of conflicts through academic analysis, and apply these insights to mediation support activities.
