Social Innovation Program
Envisioning a society where women in Asia can realize their full potential
In April 2024, the Gender Investment and Innovation Program merged into the Asia and Middle East Program. The projects previously managed by the Gender Investment and Innovation Program, except for the Asia Women Impact Fund (AWIF), have been transferred to the Social Innovation Team within the Asia and Middle East Program. Management of AWIF has been transferred to the Accounting and Finance Department.
This program strives to reshape Asian society through economic empowerment and gender equality projects so that all women can have the agency to independently tap into their own potential. Leveraging our unique competitive advantage as one of Japan’s leading private foundations, we aim to address gender inequality issues through two main approaches: encouraging investment in women and supporting entrepreneurial activities. The program also promotes the implementation of concrete actions by conducting research and collaborating with regional organizations and groups. We then present pragmatic policy recommendations informed by these studies and initiatives.
