Asia is a region characterized by rapid economic growth and rising social consciousness, while also facing persistent challenges like economic inequality, health disparities, aging populations, human rights concerns, and environmental risks. In response, catalytic philanthropy has emerged as a transformative approach, going beyond traditional funding to foster multi-sectoral partnerships, amplify social impact, and drive systemic change.
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) commissioned this report to identify effective philanthropic initiatives across seven Asian countries—Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Focusing on foundations that support social enterprises and local regeneration, the report highlights best practices for creating ripple effects through purposeful, adaptable, and sustainable philanthropic actions.
