Summary
On the morning of 26 August 2026, a collapsing glacier above Nepal's Langtang valley set off a flood that reached China within minutes and Nepal's plains within hours, killing more than nine hundred people. This article lays out the verified record: what happened, why disasters like it are striking this corridor more often, what science and policy have so far done about it, and what preparedness, justice and financing now require of both governments.
