On August 5, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will host Dr. Kent E. Calder, Director of Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University.

As an expert on Japanese politics and International Relations in East Asia, Dr. Calder has published a lot of books and papers, including Asia in Washington (Brookings Institution Press, 2014), and The New Continentalism (Yale University Press, 2012).

Among others, Dr. Calder will touch on the relationship between U.S., Japan and the Gulf Region and other key issues; why the Gulf Region is important, why the Gulf Region matters for Japan and the United States, and what kind of interests and issues Japan and U.S. share and how to deal with them.
