Event Report: The Welcome Reception for Permanent Representatives to NATO
On April 17, 2026, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation hosted a welcome reception in conjunction with the visit to Japan of a delegation of Permanent Representatives to the North Atlantic Council, NATO’s principal political decision-making body. The reception was attended by a wide range of participants from government, industry, and academia, including Mr. Gen Nakatani, Member of the House of Representatives, former Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Japan–U.S.–Europe Parliamentary Conference on Comprehensive Security.

Strengthening Medical and Social Protection Systems for Women and Children in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
Our program is supporting the strengthening of integrated protection systems for women and children in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Philippines. Through support for hospital‑based Women and Children Protection Units (WCPUs) and capacity‑building of multidisciplinary professionals, a foundation for survivors to access coordinated medical, psychosocial, social, and legal services is being established.

Community Mediation as a Pathway to “Peace” — Toward the Restoration of Relationships
Our program is engaged in supporting peacebuilding through community mediation in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Philippines, in collaboration with Conciliation Resources. Initial research confirms that mediation practices rooted in local culture and customs play an important role in restoring dialogue and rebuilding relationships within communities.

In this episode of SPF World Views, we're pleased to share the keynote address given by former U.S. National Cyber Director Chris Inglis at the Sasakawa–Yomiuri Global Forum held in Tokyo. Mr. Inglis makes the case that no nation can prevent every cyber-attack, but every nation can build systems that are resilient, defensible, and supported by collaboration across government, industry, and allies.
