On August 31, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will host Mr. Glen S. Fukushima, Senior Fellow of the Center for American Progress, on “The 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and U.S.-Japan Relations.”

From 1990 to 2012, Mr. Fukushima was a senior executive based in Tokyo with several major multinational corporations including Vice President of AT&T Japan Ltd and President & CEO of Airbus Japan. Before starting his business career, he served in Washington, D.C. as Director for Japanese Affairs (1985-1988) and Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan and China (1988-1990) at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Executive Office of the President. He was also a president of American Chambers of Commerce in Japan (1998-1999).

Based on his long time experiences involved in Japan-U.S. relations through U.S. government as well as business community, in this event, Mr. Fukushima will discuss and analyze the U.S. presidential election of 2016, which presents a clear choice between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, who have starkly different approaches to domestic and foreign policy, including America's role in the world and policy toward Japan. Moderator will be Mr. Nobuo Tanaka, President of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. We welcome your insightful questions and active participation.
