"Diversity in Leadership: The Journey of Asian American State Legislators"
- A Panel Discussion with U.S. State Legislators-
(21 November, 2014)

Closed.

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the U.S.-Japan Council host a panel discussion with five distinguished Asian American state legislators from the United States representing diverse ethnic, gender and geographic backgrounds. The state legislators, participating in the Asian American Leadership Delegation (AALD) Program funded by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, which aims to introduce and increase diversity in U.S.-Japan exchange programs, discussed their varied personal and political journeys.

The panel discussion capped off a week-long trip to Japan, in which the legislators visited Kyoto and Tokyo and met with Japanese national and local political leaders, business executives and community organizers. During the discussion, the legislators reflected on their exchange of ideas and their new networks, which will benefit the U.S. and Japan in the mid to long term. The panel also provided the audience an opportunity to learn about the broader Asian American experience.
