Incorporating low-income earners in the BOP (Base of the Pyramid) into business activities to resolve social challenges

There are some 4 billion people at the Base of our social Pyramid around the world, surviving on no more than 2 dollars a day. There are a growing number of BOP businesses that encourage them to improve their standard of living to achieve independence through business activities, with the aim of generating profits and social values at the same time. The SPF presented the outcome of its BOP project, based on a thorough investigation to identify local needs, establish connections between various companies and organizations and support Japan's first BOP business. The presentation included intriguing insights, such as the reverse innovation of BOP business technologies contributing to industrialized nations.
