Call for Abstracts: Second Inter-Polar Conference (IPC 2025)
Jointly organized by OPRI-SPF, the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, and ICIMOD, in collaboration with the UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and the UArctic Law Thematic Network, IPC 2025 supports the objectives of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (IYGP 2025) and the UN Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences (2025–2035).

OPRI participates as the lead partner of the Ocean Pavillion at COP29
At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11th to 22nd, 2024, Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI) of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will be the lead partner of the Ocean Pavilion which will be co-hosted by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) and other organizations.
Ocean Shot: Second Call for Applications
The increasing importance of human knowledge of the ocean invites more focus on applied and practical research. However, we are just beginning to understand the ocean, which could be called the last frontier for discovery. Ocean Shot will provide large-scale support for research leading to discoveries from two perspectives.

The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI), the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan implemented the research project titled “Bangladesh’s First Deep Seaport: Matarbari Heralds a New Vista in the Bay of Bengal Region”. The project was successfully implemented between October 2023 to March 2024.

The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI) of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation recognizes the urgent need to nurture the next generation of ocean leaders who will be active in 2030 and beyond in order to realize sustainable use of the ocean, and has set a goal of supporting 100 young people over five years starting in 2022.
