[Event Report] Workshop on "Review of the Arctic Governance by East-Asian Perspective"
On February 18, 2025, the Ocean Policy Research Institute participated in the 39th International Symposium on the Okhotsk Sea & Polar Oceans, hosted by Mombetsu City, and held a workshop titled "Review of Arctic Governance from an East-Asian Perspective." Researchers from Japan and abroad gather to present the latest research findings in diverse fields, including climate change, fisheries resources, ship engineering, and marine biology.

Event Report: International Seminar - Sea Level Rise and Climate Change Adaptation: The Case of Hulhumalé and Migration Policies
In collaboration with Global Infrastructure Fund Research Foundation Japan (GIF Japan), The Maldives National University (MNU) and the Maldives Housing Development Corporation (HDC), SPF hosted a seminar addressing the climate change adaptation strategies being undertaken in the Maldives through the reclamation of artificial islands, and also shed light on the evolving nature of migration in the Maldives, covering both traditional and climate-related causes.

Report: US-Australia-Japan strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific: Testing trilateralism through crisis simulation
In collaboration with the United States Studies Centre (USSC) at the University of Sydney, SPF conducted a strategic simulation on strategic crises in the Indo-Pacific region that focused on two interrelated crises: the Taiwan Strait crisis and the Korean Peninsula nuclear crisis. The purpose of the report is to provide crucial insights that contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Enabling Participation of Self-determination Groups in Intergovernmental Organisations 

This report on 'soft recognition' of self-determination groups sets out some of the mechanisms enabling their participation in intergovernmental organizations and diplomatic relations globally and regionally. It highlights the benefits – including conflict resolution potential – of such engagement for the populations they represent, as well as for states and the multilateral organizations concerned.

Publication of the English Book “The Battles of Imphal and Kohima: Japanese Operations in Northeast India”
SPF published an English book which is an excerpt version of "Senshi Sōsho: Imphal Operation". SPF collaborated with Japanese scholars and experts, including Professor Haruo Tomatsu of the National Defense Academy, to produce this book focused on Japan's military actions in Northeast India during the Battles of Imphal and Kohima.
