Ocean Shot: Third Call for Applications
The increasing importance of human knowledge of the ocean invites more focus on applied and practical research. However, we are just beginning to understand the ocean, which could be called the last frontier for discovery. Ocean Shot will provide large-scale support for research leading to discoveries from two perspectives.

From 31 March to 3 April 2025, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) took part in a series of high-profile Arctic-themed events in Italy, affirming the Foundation's growing leadership in advancing dialogue, scientific collaboration, and multilateral diplomacy in the polar regions.

An electric version of the Gakken Learning Through Manga "Secrets of the Ocean" is now available.
Ocean Policy Research Institute, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, collaborated with Gakken Co., Ltd. to produce "Secrets of the Ocean," part of the Gakken Learning Through Manga Series for elementary school students.

[Event Report] Workshop on "Review of the Arctic Governance by East-Asian Perspective"
On February 18, 2025, Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation participated in the 39th International Symposium on the Okhotsk Sea & Polar Oceans (hereafter referred to as Mombetsu Symposium), hosted by Mombetsu City, and held a workshop titled "Review of the Arctic Governance by East-Asian Perspective."

Call for Abstracts: Second Inter-Polar Conference (IPC 2025)
Jointly organized by OPRI-SPF, the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, and ICIMOD, in collaboration with the UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and the UArctic Law Thematic Network, IPC 2025 supports the objectives of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (IYGP 2025) and the UN Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences (2025–2035).
