Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and SPF President Sunami Highlight the Importance of Blue Economy and Umigyo to Kenya’s Principal Secretary State Department for Agriculture at the TICAD9 Exhibition Booth
At the booth, SPF President Atsushi Sunami, together with Minister Koizumi, explained to Dr. Ronoh the importance of the blue economy and umigyo, a coastal revitalization initiative that combines fisheries with tourism, dining, commerce, and education to boost local economies. They also discussed the potential for advancing these initiatives in Africa.

"Blue Economy in the Ocean Super Year 2025: Views from Japan" on NHK World
2025 has been dubbed the Ocean Super Year, a pivotal moment for advancing international rules that safeguard our ocean. With crises ranging from global warming and plastic pollution to resource depletion, the “Blue Economy” is a key concept for shaping the future of our ocean, with the goal of achieving both economic growth and sustainability.

Norwegian Defence Officials Visit SPF for Security Dialogue
On Friday, August 22, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation welcomed a delegation of senior officials from the Kingdom of Norway, including State Secretary to Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway, Mr. Andreas Flåm and Chief of Defence General Eirik Kristoffersen, for an exchange of views on the current international security situation.

Event Report: Symposium “Creating a Multicultural Society with Foreign Communities”
- Cases from the Philippines, Nepal, and Uzbekistan -

In this symposium, embassy officials from the Philippines, Nepal, and Uzbekistan, together with representatives from the Immigration Service Agency, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), foreign communities, and Japanese civil society, took part in presentations and discussions on the situation and challenges faced by Filipinos, Nepalese, and Uzbeks living in Japan, the initiatives of embassies and community organizations, and ways to improve systems and information-sharing to promote coexistence with foreign residents.
