Ocean Science and Policy Nexus – UNOC 3 and Beyond
Special seminar with Dr. Peter B. de Menocal, Director and President of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI)

On April 16, we will hold a special seminar at the foundation welcoming Dr. Peter B. de Menocal, a leading expert in marine geology and paleoclimatology, and Director and President of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), USA, who will discuss recent research activities at WHOI, key issues in marine science, and the critical interface between science, policy, and stakeholder actions.

SPF Hosts Japanese experts to discuss social media's impact on politics in Southeast Asia and Japan
On March 6, 2025, SPF held an online event exploring how social media is shaping democracy and elections in Southeast Asia and Japan. Five Japanese scholars presented case studies on recent elections in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Japan, highlighting how social media influences voter behavior, campaign strategies, and youth political engagement.

Gakken Learning Through Manga "Secrets of the Ocean" 
The Ocean Policy Research Institute published "Secrets of the Ocean," which is part of the Gakken Learning Through Manga Series for elementary school students.
The production of this book, supported by the Nippon Foundation, was carried out as part of the "Ocean Education Pioneer School Project," with the hope that many elementary school students, parents, and educators will take an interest in the ocean in the midst of the public's growing disillusionment with the sea.
