Europe’s role in Indo-Pacific: Lithuania’s contribution
On May 28, SPF and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Japan will hold a public forum featuring Her Excellency Dovilė Šakalienė, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania. Minister Šakalienė will present Lithuania’s newly developed Defense Strategy and share insights on Europe’s evolving role—and Lithuania’s growing engagement—in the Indo-Pacific region.

Symposium on Creating a Multicultural Society with Foreign Communities
Cases from the Philippines, Nepal, and Uzbekistan

On June 19, SPF will host a symposium that will explore challenges identified through ongoing efforts and examine initiatives that promote the coexistence of foreign residents in Japan, inviting representatives from three embassies and the Immigration Services Agency of Japan.

OPRI-SPF and ICIMOD sign Joint Statement of Understanding launching Glacier to Ocean project

The Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (OPRI-SPF) and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) have signed a Joint Statement of Understanding launching the Glacier to Ocean project, a transformative initiative connecting the Himalaya and the Bay of Bengal through integrated climate action.

Unlocking Impact: Collaborative Insights from the AVPN Northeast Asia Summit 2025
SPF participated in this year’s AVPN Northeast Asia Summit at Roppongi Midtown, themed “Transforming Northeast Asia, Transforming the World: Collaborative Solutions for a Sustainable Future.” With over 200 participants from 20 countries, 60 speakers, and 24 sessions, the event showcased the power of collective action for a sustainable future.

Held Discussions with National Chengchi University
On May 8, SPF’s Strategy and Deterrence Program welcomed Director Wang and a delegation from Taiwan’s National Chengchi University, Institute of International Relations. Alongside Program Director Yamamoto and other researchers, they held in-depth discussions on pressing international issues.
