Screening: "WHOLE" and Cross Talks with Producer and Key Actors

One of the priority areas of the Asia and Middle East Program Group of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) is the development of a more inclusive society in Asia. SPF started the "Building Models Towards Inclusive Society in Asia" project in FY2022. As part of this project, we commissioned the Kobe Foreign Friendship Center to conduct the "Research on 'Multicultural Local Services' by Administrative Agencies and International Associations" in FY2022 and the "Research and Dialogue on Local Services by Both Organizations Implementing 'Multicultural Services' and Foreign Roots Citizens Project" in FY2023.

Many citizens with foreign roots are involved in the implementation of "Multicultural Local Services." It is necessary for people with foreign roots to be involved in the issues themselves and to have the ability to support people with the same or other roots.

This time, in collaboration with Kobe Foreigners Friendship Center, we will hold a screening of "WHOLE," which honestly depicts the complexities of identity and feelings toward Japanese society through the daily lives of "half" youth, as well as cross talks (discussions) with the director and key actors. This event aims to deepen the meaning of "self-support" for citizens with foreign roots to support each other by feeling and understanding "differences" that are not only expressed in words but also transmitted and expressed by the people concerned.
