Ukraine Crisis and Turkish Foreign Policy

Organized by: Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Asia and Middle East Program

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) cordially invites you to a public webinar entitled “Ukraine Crisis and Turkish Foreign Policy” by Dr. Ufuk Ulutaş, Chairman of Center for Strategic Research, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and Dr. Mesut Özcan, Director of Diplomacy Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

Turkey, a regional power, has a unique presence in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. A NATO member with good relations with both Russia and Ukraine, it has engaged in active mediating diplomacy. Last July, working with the United Nations, Turkey brokered the resumption of Ukraine's grain exports through the Black Sea.

In this webinar, the two experts, who have been involved in Turkish diplomacy through policymaking, foreign affairs and security analysis, will discuss Turkish diplomacy, with a focus on its response to the Ukraine crisis. The subsequent panel discussion will be joined by Dr. Masaki Kakizaki, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Temple University, Japan Campus, who specializes in Turkish politics, and Prof. Tomonori Yoshizaki, Vice President for Academic Affairs, National Institute for Defense Studies, who specializes in European security and NATO.

We look forward to your participation.
