Disability Equality Training (DET) sessions

September 1, 2022
2 Min. Read
In July 2022, SPF held Disability Equality Training (DET) sessions for our staff and board members. DET is a training course in which people with disabilities act as facilitators and work with the participants to consider how to create an inclusive organization that does not exclude people with disabilities.

The first half of the training featured supporter training in which participants experienced how to assist wheelchair users and people with visual impairments, using actual wheelchairs and white canes.

Participants commented that the hands-on training was very effective and that it was meaningful to learn about the social model of disability.

The D&I project team will continue to plan various events and training courses in the future
