The Chitose River is the cradle of the government operated project on artificial production and fry release programs for salmon and trout.Located on the Chitose River is the Chitose Salmon Aquarium which specializes in salmon and freshwater fish of the northern Pacific. A notable feature is the Chitose River underwater observation room where one can take a look inside a natural river.This article introduces past exhibits of natural rivers along with the allure of the underwater observation room.

As people become well-traveled, they become exposed to various industrial activities and have increasing interest in learning about industrial tourism.By perceiving harbors from the perspective of this industrial tourism, the history of the dynamic activities in ports and harbors, various harbor facilities, factory equipments in ports areas, and the production and development of harbors is positioned as a dominant resource for industrial tourism and a new possibility for harbors is seen.

When the environmental contamination and toxic implications of new harmful substance are recognized as a social problem, questions such as "Will this pollution spread on a global scale?" and "How fast this will spread and what may be the future trends of pollution?" are raised by experts and government agencies.For the past 40 years, environmental and biological samples collected by Ehime University from many parts of the world and cryopreserved have enabled the estimation of such chemicals in relation to time and space.
