SPF-APSA Congressional Fellowship Program
Since 2022, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) has offered the SPF-APSA Congressional Fellowship Program to nurture professionals with strong expertise in U.S. politics and U.S.-Japan relations.
On October 14, 2026, the U.S.-Japan and Security Studies Unit of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation hosted a tabletop exercise (TTX) featuring Mr. Tristan Tang, a Taiwan-based wargaming researcher.
The exercise was built around a scenario examining security challenges in the Taiwan Strait. Participants were divided into several teams and explored potential responses to developments that could affect regional stability and economic activity.
During the exercise, participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including maritime law enforcement activities, maritime and air transportation, economic and financial challenges, and supply chain resilience. The exercise also provided an opportunity to consider policy responses and decision-making processes during a crisis. The session concluded with an After Action Review, during which participants engaged in a lively discussion of key observations and lessons learned.
