The Japan-U.S. and Security Studies Unit of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation hosted a delegation led by Ms. Tuuli Duneton, the Undersecretary for Defence Policy of the Estonian Ministry of Defence, for an exchange of views on the current security environment on May 28, 2026.
During the meeting, Mr. Tetsuro Kuroe, Former Administrative Vice-Minister of Defense, and General (ret.) Koji Yamazaki, Former Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff (SPF Senior Fellow), delivered briefings on Japan’s defense policy and the regional security environment. This was followed by a discussion with researchers from the Japan-U.S. and Security Studies Unit, focusing on the security environment in Europe, as well as prospects for further defense cooperation between Japan and Europe.
