Exchange of Views with Dr. Valentin Weber (DGAP)

On September 8, 2026, the Japan-U.S. and Security Studies Unit of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation hosted Dr. Valentin Weber, Senior Research Fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), for an exchange of views.  

Dr. Weber is affiliated with DGAP’s Center for Geopolitics, Geoeconomics, and Technology, and his current research focuses on China's AI exports. During the meeting, participants discussed the current situation and diffusion of Chinese AI models in the Indo-Pacific, and Japan's prospects in the field of AI technologies.
