SPF-APSA Congressional Fellowship Program
Since 2022, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) has offered the SPF-APSA Congressional Fellowship Program to nurture professionals with strong expertise in U.S. politics and U.S.-Japan relations.
On November 6 and 7, 2025, the Strategy and Deterrence Program of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation conducted a strategic simulation in Taipei, co-hosting with the Indo-Pacific Institute for Security Studies and the Prospect Foundation. SPF participants included Executive Director Nobukatsu Kanehara, former Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Secretariat and Senior Fellow/ADM (ret. JMSDF) Tomohisa Takei, and former Chief of Maritime Staff and Senior Fellow/GEN (ret. JGSDF) Koji Yamazaki. Following the conclusion of the simulation, the delegation visited the Presidential Office, where they exchanged views with Dr. Joseph Wu, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, and paid a courtesy call on President Lai Ching-te.
