On Tuesday, June 24, the annual Japan–Taiwan Dialogue 2025 was held in partnership with the Prospect Foundation in Taiwan. As part of a dialogue series that has taken place annually since the 2010s, this year’s event was hosted by our foundation and convened in Tokyo.

The dialogue welcomed a delegation of seven researchers, including Chairman Tân Tông-san and Executive Director Lai I-Chung.

This Dialogue unfolded across three focused sessions—general affairs, defense, and economic security—with in-depth exchanges centered on the rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Participants engaged in candid dialogue on how to deter potential conflict and preserve stability in Indo-Pacific including Japan and Taiwan.

Following the event, a press conference was held at the same venue, during which the discussions and key takeaways were shared with over 20 Japanese and Taiwanese media outlets in attendance.

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF; Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Atsushi Sunami) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Defence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on June 11, 2026, in Colombo, concerning SPF’s project for “Security Dialogues and Defense Exchanges between Japan and Asian Countries.”
