On October 23, 2019, Mr. Nobuo Tanaka, Chairman of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, received a courtesy visit from H.E. Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland. Following an introduction of the various initiatives underway at the foundation's Ocean Policy Research Institute and other departments, the two sides discussed potential areas for collaboration between Japan and Iceland, including environmental conservation in the Arctic Circle.
