- Dompet Dhuafa's Challenges as a Muslim Philanthropic Organization in Indonesia -
(On Dec.13,2016)
Closed.

We have invited three senior members (including the founder) of Dompet Dhuafa, Indonesia's largest NGO and recipient of the 2016 Ramon Magsaysay Award - commonly referred to as Asia's Nobel Peace Prize - to participate in this year's Asian Opinion Leaders' Exchange.

In accordance with the Islamic notion of Zakah and Awqaf, Dompet Dhuafa collects donations of 2 billion yen annually in Indonesia and funds a diverse range of programs in fields such as poverty alleviation, disaster relief, reconstruction assistance, education and health. Dompet Dhuafa is active within the ASEAN community and, with its in-depth knowledge of Indonesian society across a broad range of areas, we are sure that this year's program will prove to be a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge of Indonesia, as well as deepening their understanding of Islamic values.

We are also delighted to welcome as a commentator Dr. Bambang Widjojanto, currently a visiting research fellow at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. Dr. Widjojanto is a recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award and former vice-chairman of the Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission and remains an active figure in Indonesian civil society.

We hope to see you at what is sure to be a lively and enlightening discussion.
