Project Outline
Given that further revision to Japan’s Three Strategic Documents is scheduled for December 2026, there is a growing need for concrete recommendations on Japan's security strategy based on an objective third-party perspective.
This project draws on the insights and expertise of an independent third party to identify and examine issues that are difficult to fully address within government, and to develop proposals that contribute to the fundamental strengthening of Japan’s security strategy.
Regarding specific research initiatives, the project will examine and compile policy recommendations on the themes of “strengthening the human resource base of defense capabilities” and “strengthening economic security capabilities for technological development and the defense industry.”
The project also provides government officials engaged in the security field with opportunities for study and training on defense and security issues, with a view to further promoting understanding of defense among policy planners and contributing to the strengthening of Japan’s security policies.
