As Thailand seeks the path back to democracy, what is the form of democracy we want to see, and what factors need to be instituted

We interviewed Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, who dedicated his efforts in restoring law and order in regions of instability during five years of service as ASEAN's secretary general. He described the situation in Thailand as "Democracy Derailed". Amidst their struggle to get back to the path to democracy, he believes that a lot of living experiences, exchange, learning and learning through mistakes are essential to establish the ideal form of democracy. Asserting that human resources development is the most important contribution that any society can make, he concluded that sharing Japan's discipline, responsibility, hard-working nature and the sense of professionalism would be the most important contribution for the growth of Thailand's civic society.
