The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has interviewed the Honorable Ryozo Kato, the former Ambassador of Japan to the United States, and the Honorable Richard Armitage, the former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, who co-chair the U.S.-Japan Commission on the Future of the Alliance, a panel of experts on bilateral security issues, marking the release of the Commission's interim report.

We asked them about their assessment of SPF's activities, the significance and value of unrestrained debates at the Commission by both U.S. and Japanese members, and their hope and desire to inspire young leaders in their respective countries to become interested in U.S.-Japan relations through the Commission's recommendations.
