The Center for Mediation Support held the first regular study session on peace mediation support

On May 29, 2026, the Center for Mediation Support of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation held its first regular study session consisting of fellows from different regions and fields of expertise. In this study session, Dr. Akiko Horiba, Director of the Center for Mediation Support, gave a presentation on “What is Peace Mediation?” focusing on the case of Southern Thailand and the expansion of international networks involved in peace mediation support. This was followed by an exchange of views among the participants.

SPF Hosted a High-level International Peace Mediation Exchange in Tokyo

From May 11 to 13, 2026, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation’s Center for Mediation Support hosted a high-level international exchange in Tokyo, bringing together leading practitioners and policymakers from Oman, Switzerland, Türkiye, and prominent non-governmental organizations. The program was organized to strengthen cooperation in peace mediation and to foster dialogue between global experts and stakeholders in Japan at a time of increasing conflict worldwide.
