SPF's Japan-U.S. Program and the East-West Center in Washington D.C. have published the fourth edition of the “Japan Matters for America/America Matters for Japan” (JMA/AMJ) booklet.
This JMA/AMJ booklet, written in both English and Japanese, provides readers with information about the bilateral connections between Japan and the United States through trade, investment, jobs, diplomacy, security, education, tourism, population, and community connections, including data and graphs.

1. A wide range of topics from politics, economics, and military affairs to community connections are presented in an easy-to-understand format.

2. New categories are added to the 4th edition.
The fourth edition of the JMA, which has been updated since the first edition in 2010, now includes information on COVID-19 vaccine provision, technology, and innovation (semiconductors, space, etc.).
★ The United States and Japan have delivered
over 200 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the Indo-Pacific.

3. "Selected Stories" on a wide range of subjects have been added.
JMA includes information on Japan-U.S. relations regarding a wide variety of topics such as Japanese sake, space, baseball, etc.



4. State-by-state information is presented on a single sheet.
Along with the booklet, an updated database on state information is available now. This database provides a one-page summary for each state outlining how they interact with Japan in terms of trade, investment, jobs, exchange students, Japanese-American population, tourism, and community connections. This database has received great attention from congressional representatives.
