The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI) of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation produced the Gakken manga titles Discover the Secrets of Umigyo! Visiting Miura, the Birthplace of Umigyo and Ainan, a Leader in Umigyo: A Seaside Town Takes on New Challenges to promote greater understanding of Umigyo, a concept that utilizes local marine and fishing-port resources to create new value and vitality in coastal communities.

Set in Miura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and Ainan Town, Ehime Prefecture, the two manga volumes introduce Umigyo initiatives in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner.
