In light of the rapidly changing situation surrounding the polar regions, this project aims to develop human resources, maintain livelihoods and culture, and implement initiatives related to the stabilization of the third polar region, while also promoting mutual understanding with the countries concerned, and to develop a foundation that will contribute to the stabilization of the polar regions, which can be called the front line of climate change countermeasures.
FY2026 Implementation Items
- Research on strengthening the capacity of Alaska Natives to respond to changes in the marine climate
- Research and study on comprehensive conservation and development of the Hindu Kush Himalayas (HKH)
- Development of human resources that will contribute to the development of the polar regions
- Collaborative workshops for research exchange and human resource development in areas such as Russia and Greenland
