This project aims to conduct interdisciplinary research on sustainable ocean governance from humanities and social science perspectives. Through systematic analysis of existing management frameworks in East Asian seas, the North Pacific, and the Arctic region, it seeks to: (1) identify institutional barriers hindering effective ocean governance; (2) promote an international academic consortium establishment for knowledge exchange; and (3) develop community-based sustainable governance models grounded in shared maritime values. The ultimate objective is to propose a novel paradigm for transboundary ocean governance that integrates ecological sustainability with socio-cultural considerations.
Key Research Components
- Comparative analysis of marine governance mechanisms in East Asian regional seas
- Multidisciplinary investigation of Arctic governance frameworks and their global implications
