Marine education is getting a trial run at elementary, junior high, and senior high schools throughout Japan. Then, we considered: Is there a way for schools in regions far from the ocean to learn about the ocean in a hands-on way? Are there any educational materials which can offer perspectives from multiple fields and opportunities for industry-academia-government collaboration? These questions led to the creation of the “Classroom Museum: Ocean's Bounty for You!” In this article, I will describe the work of this traveling museum which utilizes classrooms and other facilities under themes of familiar foods and marine products.
