In recent years, human rights violations on the oceans, including forced labor and human trafficking, have been receiving attention. Urgent and effective measures regarding these human rights problems are included in the Sustainable Development Goals. In order to reach this goal, while maintaining due consideration for the development of international human rights law, there is a need for international organizations, courts, and treaty bodies to interpret and apply UNCLOS in a comprehensive and progressive manner.
