On July 12, 2016, the arbitral tribunal established under Annex VII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) rendered its award on the case between the dispute between the Philippines and China in the South China Sea. The Court ruled that Beijing's claim to historic rights within the so-called nine-dash line violates UNCLOS, and also that China's activities within those waters are in contravention of the Convention. China's reaction to the award, which recognized almost all of the Philippines' claims, requires attention.

Representing the culmination of 30 years of eelgrass restoration activities, the "National Eelgrass Summit 2016 in Bizen: Creating the Satoumi, Satoyama Brand ~Connecting regions and generations~" was held from June 3rd to 5th in Hinase-town, Bizen City, in Okayama Prefecture. We would like to introduce our new efforts towards the creation of a Satoumi / Satoyama brand and realization of a true local recycling society, all centered around the process of integrated coastal management (ICM), starting from the beginning of our activities to our declaration made at the Summit.

As a maritime transport company, we believe our mission lies in contributing to the enrichment of human lives through distribution logistics as well as handing down a blue, beautiful ocean and sustainable society to the next generation. As one of the milestones of our environmental vision to pass on a blue ocean to children of the future, we started the DRIVE GREEN PROJECT as an environmental flagship for the next generation.
