The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) at the foundation’s building in Tokyo. SPF was represented by President Atsushi Sunami while the OECS was represented by Ms. Susanna De Beauville-Scott, Programme Director of the Sustainable Ocean Management Programme.

The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation, with reference to the alignment of OECS and SPF’s strategic priorities, under which collaborative activities and projects can be undertaken. The areas of cooperation identified include:

• Environmental Sustainability and Ocean Governance
• Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Adaptation
• Agriculture, Food Security, and Sustainable Livelihoods
• Community-Based Tourism and Cultural Exchange
• Data and Knowledge Management
• Regional Cooperation Dialogue and Global Engagement and Advocacy for SIDS
• Institutional Strengthening and Visibility

 
SPF welcomes the development of this important milestone as an important mechanism to contribute better to the Caribbean Region in collaboration with a committed partner.
