Working together to address ocean stewardship opportunities
~ SeaBOS experience

Host:Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (OPRI-SPF)
Co-hosts:Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC)

SeaBOS (Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship) is a 10-year, time-bound initiative that has brought together leading global seafood companies and academic institutions to advance transformative change toward sustainability in the global seafood industry. Established in 2016 by the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC), the initiative was founded on the hypothesis that, just as keystone species play a critical role in ecosystems, certain companies have an outsized influence on the structure and functioning of the global seafood industry ecosystem. Over the past decade, senior industry leaders and scientists have worked together through SeaBOS to engage in dialogue, make collective commitments, as well as promote outreach activities related to ocean stewardship. As the initiative reaches its conclusion, this symposium will take stock of its achievements, share lessons learned, and explore the challenges and opportunities ahead.
