World Island Forum High Level Roundtable

OrganizerThe Nippon Foundation

On March 11 (Tuesday), The Nippon Foundation will host the "World Island Forum: High Level Roundtable", an international conference chaired by Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of The Nippon Foundation, in collaboration with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. The forum aims to explore the role of philanthropy in supporting small island developing states (SIDS) worldwide, particularly in the Pacific region.

Held in association with Economist Impact's World Ocean Summit 2025, of which The Nippon Foundation is the official host, the event will bring together leaders from Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Kingdom of Tonga, along with key international figures, including Peter Thomson, United Nations Special Envoy for the Ocean, and representatives from global financial institutions and philanthropic organizations.

For decades, The Nippon Foundation Group has been committed to supporting Pacific SIDS. This forum will discuss the impact and outcomes of these efforts thus far, and also explore how philanthropy can further contribute to supporting SIDS and advancing global peace. Through these discussions, we aim to develop new actions for the future.
