As a part of the integrated food system, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture have been identified and a pivotal component of sustainable blue economies from the perspective of food security, poverty eradication, livelihood improvement and sustainable marine and coastal ecosystem management in Africa. However, African countries face myriad challenges in materializing the potential for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. This ocean forum is intended to promote discussions with representatives of African governments and relevant Japanese organizations on regional cooperation and international partnership to promote food security and sustainable fisheries in Africa and the prospects for forging Japan-Africa partnership.
