9/20 Community-based Activities and Governance for Seascape Restoration
Jointly organized by:Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (OPRI-SPF), United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) , International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI), Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan (MOEJ)
The decade from 2021 to 2030 has been positioned as the "United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration" which calls for the active participation of multi-stakeholders in conservation and restoration of various ecosystems around the world. The second event of the Satoumi and Ecosystem Restoration Symposium series will focus on blue carbon ecosystems restoration (mangrove, seagrass, and salt marsh) and citizen science application. We will listen to worldwide practitioners of blue carbon ecosystem restoration and discuss how we can enhance/strengthen restoration efforts.
