8/26 Webinar: Science, innovation and the blue recovery

Jointly organized by:Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (OPRI-SPF), The Nippon Foundation, Economist Group

Science, technology and innovation are playing critical roles in the response to the covid-19 pandemic—a reminder that meeting global challenges such as safeguarding ocean health, and establishing a sustainable ocean economy, calls for a foundation of shared science and a vibrant innovation ecosystem. As we enter the UN Decade of Ocean Science, leaders from the fields of science, technology and policy will offer perspectives on the importance of a new collaborative science for the ocean, and experts from finance will explore the links between science, innovation and investment.

With this backdrop, the Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (OPRI-SPF) will co-host a webinar entitled "Science, innovation and the blue recovery" on August 26, 2020 (Wed), with The Nippon Founadation and the Economist Group's World Ocean Initiative. The webinar will serve as the second session in the three-part "Blue Recovery Series." We look forward to your participation.
