
The Ogasawara Islands comprise the Ogasawara Islands (Mukojima Island Group, Chichijima Island Group, Hahajima Island Group), the Kazan Island Group, Okinotorishima, Minamitorishima, and small islands in the vicinity (submarine volcanic island of Nishinoshima, and Sofugan, etc.). Of these, Okinotorishima is the southernmost point of Japan, Minamitorishima is the easternmost point of Japan, which is the only island in Japan to be located on the Pacific Plate. (Ref. 1, 2)
