Since its establishment in 1989, the Sasakawa Pacific Island Nations Fund has conducted many projects in the fields of exchange and human resources development with the Pacific Island Nations, believing these countries to be important partners of Japan. Most recently, the Fund has focused on Micronesia, a region that is not only close to Japan in geographical terms but also shares a deep common history.
