On December 13, 2016, The Sasakawa Pan Asia Fund invited three senior members (including the founder, Dr. Parni Hadi Kasanpuro) of Dompet Dhuafa, Indonesia's largest NGO and recipient of the 2016 Ramon Magsaysay Award - commonly referred to as Asia's Nobel Peace Prize - to participate in this year's Asian Opinion Leaders' Exchange.

In accordance with the Islamic notion of Zakah and Awqaf, Dompet Dhuafa collects donations of 2 billion yen annually in Indonesia and funds a diverse range of programs in fields such as poverty alleviation, disaster relief, reconstruction assistance, education and health. We welcomed as a commentator, Dr. Bambang Widjojanto, currently a visiting research fellow at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. Dr. Widjojanto is a recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award and former vice-chairman of the Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission and remains an active figure in Indonesian civil society.
