Amidst a rising need for security guarantees in cyberspace and the cognitive domain, this project seeks to stimulate deeper discussion in these areas and promote Japan’s contribution in the field of security. SPF recommendations on information warfare and Active Cyber Defense (ACD) delivered during Phases I and II have subsequently been incorporated into the national security strategy, although implementation has been delayed. Phase III builds on the previous phases of this project by advancing visualization of dis- and misinformation spread and discussion of associated policy issues, as well as engaging with the Japanese government to encourage enhancement of capabilities in areas such as cybersecurity and cognitive warfare.
