Sasakawa Peace Foundation Honorary Chairman Yohei Sasakawa awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun

Yohei Sasakawa, Honorary Chairman of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, received the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun during the annual spring awards ceremony held on May 23, 2019. The Order of the Rising Sun is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to society. Honorary Chairman Sasakawa was recognized for his many years seeking to promote social welfare across a variety of fields, including his focus on ocean-related issues, his work as the World Health Organization (WHO) Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination, his efforts as Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar, and others.
